Ant Killers To The Rescue!

There are multiple methods and techniques available for controlling ants, some products can be ineffective at dealing with and controlling ants.  The varying Species of ants will have different tastes or preferences toward food, some may be attracted to ‘Raid’ products, while using other brands will be needed to use in tandem.

Here is a short list of common ant killers and the baits that certain ants will prefer, most will enjoy or prefer sweet baits, while some others want their food to have a greasy texture.  This is the reason some products will not work on “your” ants, but for another home owner’s ants, they will work.

Ants attracted to sweet baits: Argentine ants, odorous house ants small honey ants,
Ants that like sweet and greasy baits: Big-headed ants, pavement ants, Little black ants,
Special ant species that likes Hydramethylnon Bait (a chemical in a lot of different baits): pharaoh ants

Look at the ants when you get a chance, they will vary in size, shape and color.  Based on their attributes you will need to use their preferred bait matched to the ants you have in your home and want to remove from your home.  Almost all ants are foragers and nest, when you see an ant it will either be looking for food, or going back home.  Just by watching them for a short amount of time, will give you the opportunity to find their nest!

While some carpenter ants are attracted to some conventional ant control products, they might not be effective in controlling carpenter ants and some products made for carpenter ants will not work for other ant species.

The best strategy for pest control, including ant control, is to use the method available that best fits the situation. For ant killers, using bait traps in and out of your home, cleaning and treating foundation of your home with dust treatments, you can also use dusts on any nests you will find around your home.  The bait traps will attract foragers, these foragers will return the tainted food to their nests and may kill off ants in the nest.

Treating the perimeter of your home will clean up any pheromone trails that might lead the ants into your home, the ant killers will also deter any ants from entering in the future.  If you are patient or fortunate enough to find the location of their nest, you can use a duster or liquid spray and quickly exterminate the ants on your property, this will give the fastest results.
