What's Considered High-End?

There are so many different kinds of airsoft guns out there these days. Airsoft used to be something that only law enforcement personnel would use to train with, but now it is considered a very popular sport and is growing rapidly.

Because of this increase in popularity, there have been many different brands of airsoft guns created. The enormous selection of brands goes to show you just how much demand there is for this game and the equipment used for it. Because airsoft guns can be very temperamental, it can be difficult to know which ones will last and out-perform the competition.

Classic Army is probably the best known high-end brand name in airsoft today. Classic Army is known for its reliability and high performance right out of the box without any additional upgrades. Other popular brands are Tokyo Marui, G&G, and recently JG. Each of these different brands has their own strengths and weaknesses. JG airsoft guns are starting to become more popular because of how inexpensive they are while at the same time maintaining decent quality. G&G airsoft guns might be the best made weapons even though Classic Army is more popular and known.

With any high-end airsoft gun, upgrades can be made to increase the weapons performance in both rate of fire (ROF) and FPS (feet per second is used to measure the velocity of the bb as it comes out of the barrel). Some common upgrades include: a spring with increased tension, a tighter piston head and or cylinder for better compression, a tight-bore barrel for additional compression, different variations of gearing, and using a better quality battery with both increased voltage and milli-amp ratings. With the right combination of any or all of these upgrades, high-end airsoft guns can be made to shoot anywhere from 300fps to 600+fps. The standard Classic Army M4 will shoot about 335fps right out of the box. If the upgrade is intended for an increased rate of fire instead of an fps increase, airsoft guns can be made to shoot anywhere from 6 bb’s per second to 26+ bb’s per second.

When you are using high-end airsoft guns, the kind of bb you use is also very important. There are more different brands of airsoft bb’s than there are airsoft guns. The main thing you want to look for in the kinds of bb’s you use are things like; does the bb have any kind of noticeable seem or other deformations , and does it appear to be polished. These two features are the main things you want to look for when deciding on a brand of bb’s to put through your high-end airsoft gun. In addition, the weight of the bb is also very important when using higher-end guns. When you have a high-end airsoft rifle that can shoot 350 fps and above, you are going to want to use at least .20 weight bb’s. Anything less will not perform very well in terms of accuracy and distance.

I have a really bright flashlight strapped to my airsoft gun. This makes playing at night time, or in limited visibility situations, really fun.

You are quite right about the BB;s. Do not ever use ,12g's in an AEG. They are are not made for that. .12g bb;s are made for spring guns with no hop up adjustment. They are also seamed. Meaning they visibly have a seam where the 2 halves were put together. In an AEG this will tear your hop up bucking to pieces. In my opinion The best bb;s to shoot are ICS,Golden Ball, and Airsoft elite. Typical and easy upgrades to raise FPS and ROF would be to switch to a lipoly battery. I take my guns straight out of the box and put 11.1v 1400-1600 MAH 15c lipoly batteries. That takes care of the ROF. Then I will go with a Matrix steel 6.03mm inner diameter tight bore barrel and Mad bull Shark red hop bucking. That takes care of the FPS. I usually gain just from that small upgrade 50 FPS. We haven't even touched the gearbox yet. Good post thanks
