Professional Pest Control Products You Can Use Yourself

There are many choices for pest control products that homeowners can use to maintain and protect their home. The most efficient products are ones that can be used on multiple insects and rodents. Some hornet traps will also work against flys as well, but for treating your home there are two main kinds of products you will use; Dusts and Liquid based pest control products.

These two types of products will handle nearly every kind of pest that will afflict your home, dusts are used for treating cracks, small areas, and nests directly. They are effective because the dust is made to be very light and it will penetrate their nest and treated areas, they will offer more coverage and deeper penetration than conventional liquid based pesticides. Dusts are good against roaches, ants, carpenter bees and spot treatments of nearly any insect nest.

Liquid pesticides are very good for treating large areas, perimeters of your home, and some products are even made for spot treatments inside your home (only use products as directed). Liquids and dusts alike require proper measuring, following of their directions carefully, and to handle with care and use of protective equipment (gloves, eye protection, long clothes that cover as much skin as possible). But Liquid based pest control products require even more care when using and handling, liquids are often used in, practice using these containers and equipment will help.

When purchasing a new liquid sprayer, make sure to purchase one with a good brass nozzle with no leaks. The first time you use a liquid sprayer, practice using pure water without any pesticides ore concentrates. This will help you see how they spray and learn how to use them without harming yourself or someone else. This will also show you any leaks in the sprayer, and where you may need to replace a gasket, or add plumber’s tape (a sealing tape for the threads of equipment).

Once you see how it sprays, read the directions for any liquid pest control products you will be using, and treat the afflicted areas as directed. When spraying indoors remember to clean up the areas you intend to treat, and keep pets and family members away from the areas treated until they dry completely before allowing them to return to these areas of your home.

Consider investing in a few boxes of latex or vinyl gloves, they will protect your hands from exposure and they can be thrown away when you’re done.
